namita fleshy tamil actress
The glam-doll of Kollywood Namitha is all thrilled. For she has been assigned to play the lead role in an English movie. The movie
has been titled Maya and would be produced by Global One Studios and would be directed by Eric with Ashok Kumar cranking the
camera. Says Namitha, 'It is a great joy to act in an English movie at such a early stage of my career. It is an heroine centric movie
and I would certainly leave an impression in the film'. Going further, she says, 'Thogh I have acted in several films in my career, I
relish acting in Tamil movies. A sense of comfort prevails when I do Tamil movies. My forthcoming movies too would take me to
greater heights in Kollywood'
A NEW VENTURE: A still from "Maya."
CHENNAI: Long seen as a glamour girl, Namitha's role in "Maya," an English movie, has brought her acting talent to the fore.
Eric Manning, who has directed the film with an international cast, says he found Naimtha just right for the role. "Besides her film
experience, I found her to be perfect for the role. The combination of her looks and presence suited the story better than I imagined.
She is very professional and has an amazing natural acting talent. Namitha is capable of subtle and profound performances, the
exact type of actor I seek to work with."
The cast includes Zain Jamal, Tanit Phoenix, Sunny Malik and Yavor Veselinov. Ashok Kumar handles the camera for the movie
produced by Ramesh Krishnamoorthy for Global One Studios. Only a few days' work is left to complete the film, according to the
director. Trained in mechanical engineering and in acting and directing/film making, Manning has earlier directed a feature and two
short films, which have won awards at film festivals.
"Maya" is a tragic love story inspired by the Dracula story blended with the tale of Shiva-Shakti.
The director saw the chance to blend many themes together into one visually striking and charged project, as well as the opportunity
to travel to a land that he has captivated him always.
As far as Manning is concerned, the film's highlight is the storyline and its link with India. "India is to me the only real place to shoot,
since the story was so heavily based on Indian themes. The locations, the cast, all the elements, really played a major factor in
creating an authentic feel and capturing that mystical flavour that I think one wouldn't find any where else.
