In n major crackdown, Mumbai Police raided 52 nightclubs n bars n detained 986 persons including 790 bar girls, on Tuesday night,
sources said. Others detained included 40 managers n 86 bar staff members.
d bar staff were detained bi police n released on bail while d customers were let off after payment of penalty as they were found 2 b
consuming liquor without licence.
d raids, which were conducted at prominent places in North, Central n Southern Mumbai, continued throughout d night n was aimed at
cracking down on flesh trade flourishing in these nightclubs, police sources said.
These bars allegedly violated government norms bi remaining open beyond d stipulated time, d sources said.
d operation was carried out bi all Additional Police Commissioners n personally supervised bi newly appointed Mumbai Police
Commissioner n Roy who s reported 2 have conducted some of d raids, sources added.
